3 years of PRISM: a letter from the woman who started it all.
Dear PRISM,
Happy 3 year anniversary to you as a full grown salon! Even though technically it's been 6 years of you as it was just me and you for a while. Let's go on a journey.
I was a new mom to a 4 month old daughter, when I decided to take a leap of faith and create you. I was still a young and new stylist here in Richmond, Virginia with a hope, a vision and a dream. Your first space was in Carytown in a small suite with 1 chair and 1 shampoo bowl, and a tiny window that overlooked the street.
You then grew into a bigger suite with two chairs in the Near West End, where your name was starting to take hold and grow even more than I ever imagined. When the pandemic hit, what a wild time that was, it gave me time to think about my next steps, our next steps. That time at home and away from the career I loved so much made me realize so much. I realized you were meant to be so much more than just a room. You were meant to reach more people, places, stylists, and do so much more here in our community. That's when we took our next leap of faith.
We found our first location just a couple minutes down the road and it seemed as if the universe was in our favor with how well everything was working out. That spot on 8514 Patterson Avenue, it was meant for us. From there, the bigger picture began to grow. You went from just me and you, to a 9 chair salon housing other artists from the area.
While business ownership has its ups and downs, we've truly come a long way and I am proud of every step we've made. We're right where we're meant to be and I can't imagine life without you in it. Here's to many more years of helping stylists and guests see their inner glow, their inner strength, their beauty. Here's to more years of laughs with the team and just having the best damn vibe a Richmond, Virginia salon has ever seen. We've got something here that's so unique, special, and different from the rest. Let's kick butt this year!
Your salon mom,
Brittany
