Meet april! West’s Newest Stylist
Q: How long have you been doing hair?
April: Six years
Q: Where did you start your career?
April: Here in Richmond!
Q: What made you want to become a hairstylist?
April: I have always been interested in hair, but really struggled with my curls growing up. Now that I know how to take care of them, I love them and it makes me want to help everyone love their hair :)
Q: What’s your favorite thing to do behind the chair and why?
April: I love low-maintenance, lived-in color! Teasylights, balayage and gray blending highlights are some of my favorite techniques because the grow out is seamless!
Q: What’s your favorite aspect of being a hairstylist?
April: Definitely connecting with people! Building trust with my guests helps me to curate a cut and color that best suits them and their lifestyle!
Q: What brought you to PRISM Hair in Richmond, Virginia?
April: I’ve followed Brittany and PRISM on instagram for a few years and always thought it was such a cute salon! All the stylists are so talented and I wanted to surround myself with others who shared my same enthusiasm for hair.
Q: Are you working on anything exciting through the rest of 2024?
April: I’m mostly focused on my health and trying new things!
Q: What’s the hair tool you can’t live without?
April: My tangle teezer hair brush! It’s gentle on wet hair and perfect for brushing out beach waves.
Q: What advice do you give your guests’ for their hair/hair routine?
April: Use products! For my natural guests I always recommend using products with moisture and hold and for my blowout guests, heat protectant and oil!
Q: What’s the best hair advice you’ve ever been given?
April: Stop putting heat to my curls!!! Low heat in moderation is okay, but natural curls look best when we let them do their thing :)
