The hair trends of 2025

Welcome to 2025! Can you believe it?! Another year passes by as we head into the future. At PRISM Hair Salon in Richmond, Virginia, we are so excited to keep the good hair flowin’ and our guests glowin’ with their new looks! While we love all hair styles and color no matter what, we are looking forward to these new trends for 2025 in the hair world!

First, there’s the ULTRA SHORT BOB. A classic. So chic. So timeless. But with that edge of being short enough to catch everyone’s eye. It’s a bold choice and we believe anyone can pull off a bob! This cut is giving cool, elusive, French vibes. For sure.

Second, we have the Fairy Waves. Lived in but with a little more romance. Natural, and whimsical. These can be created using curl products, some heatless curls where you twist big sections / braid and let it dry then tousle! Or handstyling with a diffuser and texture products. Lots of texture for this natural curl vibe!

Third, 90’s IT GIRL hair is still in and THRIVING. We love the 90’s looks because of the big bouncy blowouts, round layers. It says sassy and cute but bam, I have arrived!

In the color world, there’s a few that stand out!

Cherry Cola Red is a born STUNNER. We think at some point we’ve all experimented with this shade and it’s just a classic for everyone to try. We’ve got some amazing red specialists at the salon who can take you to this color!

Another red head trend we’re following is a Spicy Ginger! Think Jessica Chastain or Lindsay Lohan! It’s softer than a bold copper, perfect for someone wanting to warm it out without being too much!

We’re really excited for Grey Blending to take it over in 2025! There’s been a big movement to embrace natural sparkle, so why not add some brighter highlights and dimensional lowlights for an intentional look? Think Sarah Jessica Parker in And Just Like That! And taking care of natural grey hair is super important with the number one thing being MOISTURE. Invest in a hydrating shampoo, conditioner, and weekly deep conditioning mask. Our favorites are Davines Minu, Momo, Oi and Heart of Glass lines!

Old Hollywood Glamour is coming back with a rich, warm, and buttery blonde. Let’s face it, warmth is in and always will be because it just suits everyone so perfectly! It’s the most natural and reflects the most light, making you shine everywhere you go!

Did you get to peep the Pantone color of the year, Mocha Mousse? It’s the IT shade for brunettes this year.  It’s rich and warm without being too red or orange in its undertones, it’s a little cooler, a perfect balance.
